Here is a little update.

I have had a rough go of it. I needed a blood transfusion 2 days after the surgery, and even with that my hemoglobin is still low, so I'm anemic now and on BIG iron. I am the 6 week mark now, Pysical therapy had a slow start but I have caught up. my flexion is at 116 degrees and the therapist says 120 degrees is perfect, so that's something...granted that is after many flexing exercises and basically PUSHING it.
when at home I am at least flexing at about 100 degrees so I have hope.
However I have many bad days where I am beyond exhausted--especially the days after therapy. I have been dealing with stomach issues since coming home from the hospital, and after 2 visits to my family doctor and him not really doing anything for me, I told him I felt he was ignoring my symptoms, basically we have parted company. I now have to find a new reg. doctor. Like my husband says...they rush anymore, and don't really listen to you.
he just kept talking about my anemia...when we had already covered that at the visit 2 weeks before. jeez...I wanted to ask him, didn't you put any notations in my chart, it is almost like there was no record I was even there 3 weeks ago, and then I was there this past week like I said.

anyway, the bad knee pain is gone, but I have been dealing with calf pain since the recovery room---they told me they were charlie horses...but here we are at 6 weeks and they are still there...in fact the area has becomes larger and includes part of my ankle and foot. It is worse when I lay down, so sleeping hasn't been good.

I see my ortho guy on friday.
thanks to those that have sent well wishes :)
Susan

wow- sure hope the rest of the recovery goes smoother!
sorry to ehar your Doctor is being an arse- I ownder why they treat patients like that? Seems rude and pointless to do so.

I heard that eating bananas can help with charlie-horse pains- apparently there is something about potassium that helps get rid of them,or make them less painful...

Hope your feeling better soon Sue!

I was wondering did your stomach issues arrive after taking the large amount if Iron? Some people cannot take large doses of iron orally and need injections instead.
