Ever since I can remember I have been creating. I love to quilt, punch needle and try anything that catches my eye. And I have to admit that I have bought all the supplies for a few others... Clay, Scrapbooking, Beading, and Cake decorating to name a few. Although I am new at the ATC thing I am hoping to finally fuse all of these art forms together.

I still keep in touch with my high school art teacher. He's retired now and runs an antique shop. I send him a creative atc with each christmas card each year!

Aren't we a clever bunch of folk! A pat on all our backs, we could be flaked out in front of the tv, but no, we choose to use our hands and minds to make something useful or playful and give people joy! It seems we all had a great start, being influenced by our surroundings or encouraged by people in our past, little did they know what it would lead to!!!! KEEP CRAFTING!

Greetings,

I was 16 when I had my first poem published. I was 20 when I won second place in the Internation Songwriting contest. I've been a creative artist since the wee years of putting on little shows for our parents. We painted on rolls of brown paper so we had a background scene.I majored in art all threw high school and had some of my work added into the school premanent collection. I did a pencil drawing of bones and ropes, acrylic landscape and a big three panel oil painting landscape with a dragonfly.

I enjoy drawing landscapes most. I have a hobby of taking photo's of anything that catches my eye. I love trading atc, matchbox fills, journals, postcards and more. I enjoy crocheting blankets and sweaters.

I love having pen pals and I like making art out of glass.

Wow Ria- you sure ahve a creative family!

I like working with textiles, too- crochet (though not great at it)sewing,etc...

When I was in Toronto, I spent a few years as a streetkid, I found this organization that was working to get street-youth into Arts to help get them off the streets-
there I learned how to do some stuff I liked- stencilling, altered arts, etc... I even leda class in how to make Duct tape wallets for them later on!

while with Sketch (street youth arts place) I took a course in textiles, and wound up getting a job with the National Ballet of Canada (the woman who led the course was a worker there)in the Costume Department- i spent a number of years working in costumes for theatre, ballet and TV- most notably I worked on the costumes for The Lion King theatrical production- learned how to stencil with dyes on silk (not easy at all)

I had always been creative, though.
I was the kid in high school who LOVED home-ec class and got in trouble for making clothes with my own patterns (ones I'd created) and not using patterns the teacher supplied-
I was the only girl in woodworking classes (my Dad is a cabinet maker by trade)

My family too, is creative- Dad is a custom cabinet maker, my Mom is a tole-painter and also loves decorating and she was the one who taught me to sew- been sewing since I was 8 or 9

guess some of us are jsut "born" creative?

wow ria that wonderful. when I was a teen I got really bored one holidays and mum threatened to make it a "doing jobs for mum holiday" if I didn't find something to do. I found painting I would trace a picture of a cartoon looking fairygodmother on to cardboard and then with cheap paints from KMart I painted her I have been making cards since i was eight I remember going through a stage when they still had paper bags in the supermarket I woudl take one draw a decorate the outside as a birthday wrapping and put the present in side mum would keep the bag for a while.
I got a job,had boyfriends, got married after I got married we were in an car accident and I broke my heel to pass the time I got my aunt to teach me how to crochet did that for about 8 years then I discovered what us aussies call folk art well I knew I had found my calling wow I love it I do paint in acrylics but find watercolour easier and have nicer finish. I also do scrapbookking on the side of all of this.

When I was younger Needlework was the thing I loved doing, whether it was sewing, bobbin lace, or knitting. I then moved onto toymaking for a while. I then had a passion for patchwork quilts. after a while, I decided I would try my artistic temperament with cake making and designing, which I did for 4 years, found this too time consuming in the end, especially around christmas time, I remember one year I had orders for 46 Christmas cakes. I nearly died from exhaustion. After that I found polymer clay, I love moulding this and made mainly stuff for dolls houses, with a few pendants and key fobs, thrown in. Startin painting pottery for a while and did cross-stitching for about a year then, out of the blue, I totally changed course and found Papercrafts, started with card making, then progressed to scrapbooking both of these I still do, then ATC's and now into altered art, so is this because I get bored? - Noooooo!!!! just need to keep changing my art styles. My favourite at the moment is collage, I love to get a pile of bits and pieces, lay it all out on a table and create something from it, I get so much satisfaction, especially when its so called 'rubbish' everyone else throws away. Even my family are now collecting bits, they shake their heads and call me a hoarder, but to me it's treasure, and best of all it's FREE! My whole family are into art in one way or another, my 2 eldest sons were chefs, one of them still makes sugar flowers for cakes, the other has taken up oil painting ( and gets the occasional commission ) and wall murals, after a spell of Tattooing, he also does some beautiful wood carvings.
Both my parents paint, My Mum in watercolours and my dad in acrylics.

I also took a degree in Interior design, so my whole life has always been artbased in one form or another. What's next, depends what comes along, at the moment I enjoy what I'm doing, but mostly I lover interaction with other artists, which I never had in any other art forms I took up in the past.

AM I CRAZY!!!!!!????????

I am new to ATC's and mail art, but have been painting for years.
I work in large canvas abstracts because I can't draw straight lines...(lol)

I like mail art in general because I get to do all kinds of things I love doing (collage, altering stuff, using markers, watercolour paints, stickers on somethings and stencils, etc..) that I would never use or 'do' on my full sized paintings.

I too am a bit of a dabbler in all things arty - my main passion is drawing and painting (acrylics mainly),i am currently experimenting with oil pastels and soft pastels - but I do a lot more. I love scrapbooking, journals, atc's, inchies, altering stuff. I love stamping and embossing and brush art. I make my own jewellery and designing and making clothes for my daughter. I fancy having a go at alcohol inks - but have got so much stuff I think my hubby will go mad if I get any more.

If life hands you lemons - make lemonade!!

I enjoy doing many different types of art forms. Pencil drawings of still life, I recently start ATC's and enjoy doing those in a variety of styles. I like taking photos of nature plants animals things that really capture the moment. I use to paint landscape when I was younger but now I create landscapes, I just started my first bulb rock garden for next spring I can't wait to see how it turns out. The thing I like most about is I tied it in with my frog pond flower bed. I'm trying to patiently await spring so I started a bulb garden in my kitchen windowsill so I have some flowers during the winter months.
